How we work
Three parts of how we handle interior painting, and why each one matters.
01
Floors are masked properly, furniture is wrapped, and the path from the front door to the room is protected. You should not be able to tell where we walked.
02
Nail pops, dings and cracked corners are repaired and sanded flush first, so the finished walls look smooth and even.
03
Tools put away, floors swept, rooms ready to use. Even on a job that runs a week, your home should still feel livable each evening.
About the service
Interior painting in Kansas City is seen up close and in everyday light, so the details matter. Smooth walls, crisp cut lines and careful repairs are what make a room feel finished, which is why so much of an interior project happens before the first coat.
We move what we can, center and wrap what stays, mask the floors properly and protect the route in and out. Walls get cleaned where they need it, holes and dings filled and sanded flush, and cracks at the ceiling line properly repaired. Trim is caulked where it meets the wall for a clean, crisp line. Then we cut the edges by hand, roll the walls and clean up at the end of each day.
Removing a popcorn ceiling can be a messy process, but we take extra steps to help keep that mess under control. Before work begins, we carefully protect the room and surrounding surfaces. During removal and sanding, our team uses a Festool dust-extraction vacuum system along with HEPA air filtration to capture and reduce as much airborne dust as possible while we work.
Once the texture is removed, we repair and prepare the surface underneath, prime it, and finish the ceiling with a smooth or knockdown texture based on the look you choose.
The goal is not only a beautifully updated ceiling, but a cleaner, more thoughtful process inside your home.
how it works
Getting started is simple. Our three-step process is built so you know what is happening, who is responsible and what comes next, and if the plan changes, you hear it from us.
01
One of our team members will come to your property, take a careful look at the space, and ask the right questions to understand exactly what you need. There’s no pressure and no obligation, just a helpful conversation to get things started on the right foot.
02
We put together a clear written quote that covers labor, materials and timeline, and we go over it with you so you know what you are getting and what it costs.
03
Our crew gets to work, keeps your space clean and keeps the project moving. You will hear from us as the work progresses, and if something changes, we will let you know. At the end, we’ll review the finished work with you and discuss any final adjustments needed.

Nova Painting did an incredible job! Nova’s expert painting on our kitchen island was so good I just kept adding additional projects. They painted our kitchen island, cabinet doors & drawers, freshened the inside of the cabinets and painted the shoe base after the wood floors were redone. They did a great job. Nova Painting was extremely professional, clean, courteous and always on time. Would highly recommend Nova Painting services.Posted on Google![]()

High end stained grade red oak trim everywhere! I am a custom build, general contractor and we self proform all our framing and trim carpentry. This project is an 1860s remodel with fairly elaborate stain grade finishs. The amount of attention to detail and time I personally put into this trim package, I was nervous to say the least on who my painter was going to be! BUT NOVA... came in and owned this job! They nailed it!! Absolutely beautiful finishes!! If something wasn't right, they fixed it! Mark and his lead guys were eager to work with schedules and processes to help make the job flow smooth, and it did. They did an absolutely beautiful job on this trim out along with finishing the wall and ceiling paints. This job is a staple in my carpentry and contracting career and I am happy to have Nova be apart of it. Thank you to Mark, Trisha and "the other Mark" and the team to bring this beautiful art work to the finish line! I am proud of this one! **Pictures don't do it justice and I hope Nova gets better ones posted**Posted on Google![]()

Nova Painting did a great job for us! Caleb and his crew were very conscientious and professional and easy to work with, and Trisha kept us informed of timing and scheduling. We were very pleased with the outcome of having our home painted by them…in addition to having them do some wood repairs due to woodpecker damage. We will gladly recommend Nova Painting any time!
What it costs
Every interior painting project is unique, and pricing depends on the scope of the work. Factors may include the size of the areas being painted, the condition of the walls and ceilings, any repairs or additional preparation needed, ceiling height, trim and architectural details, the number of colors, and which surfaces are included in the project.
During your estimate, we’ll walk through the space with you, talk about what you’d like to accomplish and make sure we understand the full scope of your project. From there, we’ll provide a clear written estimate outlining the work and pricing, so you know what to expect before your project begins.
While we’re talking through your interior painting project, we’re happy to look at other areas you’re considering as well. This might include cabinets, built-ins, trim or specialty finishes that can help bring the space together.
If exterior painting is also on your list, we can talk through timing and help you plan each project around the season that makes the most sense.

Yes! We carefully protect the space before removing the existing texture and preparing the ceiling for its new finish. To help minimize dust during the process, we use a Festool dust-extraction vacuum system along with HEPA air filtration. Once the texture is removed, we repair and prepare the ceiling, then finish it with a smooth or knockdown texture based on your preference.
We’ll move and protect standard furniture as needed to complete your project. Heavy, fragile or valuable items will need to be moved before work begins. We’ll discuss any special items with you ahead of time, and if additional help is needed, we can provide information for a preferred vendor who can assist with moving them.
We use low-odor products when appropriate and take steps to help maintain air quality while we work, including ventilation and our Festool air scrubber with HEPA filtration. If anyone in your home has sensitivities to paint or odors, let us know during the estimate so we can discuss product options and plan the project with that in mind.
